Midwest Images

For everyone’s edification and enjoyment, I’ve decided to create a series of photo repositories of some of my travels and interesting finds. These repositories are broken up loosely by subject matter. Since I have so many images to share, I’ll break these archives up into bite sized portions. This repository is devoted to images from around the Midwest.

This page contains links and information about some of the older images that I’m hosting on my site.

The photo galleries listed here are available for public viewing. The images contained within these galleries are my sole property. However, I’m not stingy or antisocial! If you would like to use one of the images contained within any of these galleries, please contact me. Thanks and enjoy!

  • Great Taste of the Midwest – Madison, WI
Way back when, every August my brother and I try to get up to Madison, WI for the Great taste of the Midwest. Here are some images from the last Great Taste event we attended. Please excuse some of the images – I was drinking beer after all!
  • Prairie Wolf Slough
Pictures from the County nature preserve not too far away from where I used to work.
  • Volo Bog – Volo, IL
The sights and scenery from an early fall trip to Volo Bog with the family. Volo Bog is the only quaking bog in the lower 48.
  • September Cruise on Lake Michigan
The department that I work for has an annual event to bring the entire group together and celebrate the successes of the year. This year we were treated to an evening cruise on Lake Michigan on the Odyssey. Here are some images from that evening as well as a 9.6 MB video (with audio!) of the fireworks courtesy of the City of Chicago.
  • Miscellaneous Images
Testing out my new camera with some shots of the blooming spring time flowers and trees around the yard.
  • Chicago Auto Show 2005
Over 200 images that I took while at the Chicago Auto Show.
  • Spring in Northern Illinois
Spring started out cooler than normal and continued that way for a while. Once everyone started to grouse, the weather turned nicer, but not consistently. Right now, we’re in a period of gray, rainy days – is this the Midwest monsoon?
  • Brookfield Zoo in May
May is a great time of year to visit the zoo – the chill is (normally) out of the air but the weather isn’t too hot. The animals are a fairly active and not wilted by the heat. A good time was had by all. Enjoy the pictures!

  • Midwest Clouds
Wispy clouds, storm clouds and everything in between. Clouds fascinate me for reasons I don’t understand. Anyway – enjoy.
  • Chicago Auto Show 2006
Had more fun at this years Chicago Auto Show. Check out pictures of some of the cool cars that were on display. And yeah, the Toyota FJ Cruiser was there and I went a little nuts with the photos.
  • Winter trip to the Museum of Science and Industry
During the kids’ Winter break from school, we went to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the sights. We were also lucky enough to get into the Star Wars exhibit that was running then.
  • Chicago Architecture Tour
