Airshows and Aircraft

This page captures image galleries related to Airshows and aircraft. I’m lucky to live close enough to Oshkosh, Wi which is the home to the largest airshow in the world, EAA AirVenture. I have multiple sets of images from AirVenture. I also have images from other airshows and/or opportunities to see and experience historic aircraft.

EAA AirVenture

Over the years I’ve gone to EAA’s AirVenture airshow in Oshkosh, WI. This is the largest airshow in the world and you’ll see almost every type of aircraft on display at some point. From commercial aircraft to military planes, from float planes to home build craft – it’s all there. Here are the images I’ve captured at the different times I’ve visited AirVenture.

Airshows

  • Rockford Airfest 2009
I went to the Rockford Airfest since the F-22 Raptor was going to be flying. It was a great day, but I ended up with a pretty good sunburn!
  • Rockford Airfest 2010
Second year at the Rockford AirFest

Aircraft

  • Flying History – B-29 FIFI
The Commemorative Air Force’s B-29 FIFI flew into DuPage airport on its way up to EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh. This is the only flying WWII era B-29 bomber in the world. Knowing that this plane would draw a huge audience in Oshkosh, I decided to drive down to Dupage Airport hoping for a smaller audience. I was not disappointed!
  • Flying in a WWII Bomber
The Collings Foundation brought their flying roadshow to Chicago Executive airport. After seeing the P-51, B-17 and the B-24 fly-in and land, I was determined to go for a ride. These images depict my experience flying in the B-24 Witchcraft.
